Student Spotlight – Christine Han from Yorba Linda, CA

Rozanne: Congratulations! You are our Yoga Sol Student of the Month for April. From our understanding, you’re a relatively new yogi. What brought you to the mat, and what has kept you coming consistently?

Christine: I practiced yoga several times before when I was pursuing judo recreationally at Cal. After graduating, I left the States for a year of self-exploration in Oz and the U.K. Travelling as frequently as I did, I had spent a year in flux.  During that time, the only constant in my life was my Self. I returned home with a hunger for stability. Yoga brought me to a routine. Routine brought me stability, and stability allowed me to create a small measure of peace for myself.

Dec 2016 Student of the Month – Bela Patel

Rozanne: You began your practice at Yoga Sol Studio all the way back in 2014! We’re so honored you’ve been such a loyal student of ours. How did you begin your yoga practice?

Bela: I started around the age of 5 trying to copy poses from an Iyengar yoga book my family had. I continued to dabble in classes throughout the years but have been more consistent since I have been at Yoga Sol.

Oct 2016 Student of the Month – Randi Finney

Rozanne: Congratulations! You are our Yoga Sol Student of the Month for October. You’ve been a consistent yoga practitioner for about 3 years now. What brought you to the mat in the first place, and what has kept you coming back?

Randi: In Nov 2013 I had a heart attack and my doctor told me I had to eliminate stress in my life. Since I couldn’t give up my divorce, teenagers, or job, I tried yoga. And it has been my life saver (literally!) ever since.

Feb 2016 Student of the Month – Chérie Sawiak from Fullerton, CA

Rozanne: Congratulations! You are our Yoga Sol Student of the Month for February. You were already an experienced yoga student when you first came to our studio. What drew you to yoga, and what has kept you so dedicated to yoga over the years?
Chérie:
I started yoga in college as part of a physical education requirement, it wasn’t until the last few years that I returned to yoga on a regular, committed basis. I have always tried to stay physically active over the years with ballet, tap dance, step aerobics, walking, boxing, and Pilates, but as I went through life, my awareness of how my body was changing became apparent. I was drawn back to yoga because I was looking for a physical activity where I could increase my upper body strength, flexibility, and maintain my balance. Yoga has helped me achieve this without adding additional stress to my body, like one may do with lifting weights. Yoga is an excellent weight-bearing activity which helps reduce the risk of osteoporosis, helps reduce stress, and improves ones perspective on life’s challenges. These are just a few of the many reasons as to why I have become a dedicated yoga student.

Rozanne: Congratulations! When you first came to Yoga Sol, you had already taken a few classes. What is it that drew you to yoga?

Vivian: Thank you! I am honored to be selected for student of the month. I started practicing yoga because it was something I could do for myself to find peace of mind outside of being a mom with two young kids (newborn and 2 year old). September 2015 Student of the Month – Stacey Dreyfus from Yorba Linda, CA

Stacey Dreyfus from Yorba Linda, CA

Rozanne: Congrats, you are our Yoga Sol Student of the Month for September! When you first came to our studio last year, you had taken a few yoga classes before. What is it that drew you to yoga in the first place?

Stacey: As a 40th birthday present, my Mom took me to a mother/daughter weekend at her favorite spa. At the time, I had almost no core strength. I internalized all of my stress, and it physically manifested itself in my neck and shoulders. I was in a lot of pain and had a limited range of motion. I have always lived an active lifestyle, but in my late thirties, I just got caught up in taking care of my kids and forgot to take care of myself. While I was at the spa with my Mom, I took a few gentle yoga classes and was amazed at how relaxed I felt after them. I set an intention on that trip to sign up at a yoga studio when I returned home.

Rozanne: Yoga Sol salutes you for your consistent and energetic practices. We know you first came to us a year ago having done some yoga prior. We have seen you embrace and really grow your practices this year. What first drew to you yoga?

Jackie/Len: Len and I have been interested in yoga for a long time. We are both runners and with our age we knew that we are more prone to injuries. We knew yoga would help us to prevent the common injuries amongst runners and to improve our breathing. (more…)

Rozanne: Congrats, you are our YOGA SOL Student of the Month for July! When you first came to Yoga Sol over two years ago, we understood that you came to yoga for balance, stability, firm muscles and abs. Can you tell us a little of that original inspiration?

I noticed as I aged I was losing my balance and stability. I also needed to firm my muscles, especially to build my leg muscle to support my bad knee. Of course firming the abs is the core to improving stability. (more…)

ROZANNE: Michelle, congrats on being Yoga Sol’s June Student of the Month! You inspire us with your recent personal challenge. Can you share a little bit about that with the other students?

MICHELLE: Thank you Rozanne! I am so honored and pleasantly surprised to be chosen as Student of the Month for June! I chose to challenge myself during the month of April with a 30-day yoga challenge, which I documented here on Instagram. For my challenge, I simply needed to practice yoga for at least 30 minutes each day; enough to get fully immersed in my breath and movement to where I could feel the meditative aspect take control. ROZANNE: Congrats, you are our YOGA SOL Students of the month for May. When you first came to Yoga Sol last year, we understood that you had started practicing a little while ago, but not long. Can you tell us what first drew you to yoga?

ERICA: I was first drawn to yoga because of its health benefits. Being an avid runner I suffered an injury and found that it was only relieved through stretching. I felt that yoga could help me balance my intense cardio routine with some healthy stretching. (more…)
