YOGA SOL salutes Karen Welch, October Student of the Month! Karen first came to Yoga Sol this June, mostly new to yoga, and has made an impressive commitment to the practice! She told us that she came hoping to gain strength, flexibility, weight loss, serenity and mindfulness. Karen has averaged 5.9 classes a week since joining Yoga Sol – that’s six days a week with one day of rest. Karen was the first client to meet Yoga Sol’s Summer Blow Out Challenge!
When asked what inspires her to keep this consistency, Karen tells us, In conjunction with the cultivation of mindfulness, yoga (for me) enhances clarity of the mind-body connection and aids in stress reduction. Added benefits are the increase in physical strength, flexibility and balance.
We also salute Karen’s embracing the deeper aspects of the practice. Even a few years ago, before coming to Yoga Sol, she understood the power of the mindful components of the practice. She studied MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and incorporated much of that process into her therapy work. At that point, she found that the meditative part flowed but that doing the yoga piece on her own was a bit elusive. She tells us that she recognized that she needed a structured support which led her to Yoga Sol. The diverse variety of classes and workshops that Karen takes at Yoga Sol, have given her a broader perspective. She tells us that she is inspired by the dedication, knowledge, expertise and kindness of the instructors and staff at Yoga Sol! We are inspired by you, Karen!
